Timeless Theatrics
Group show at Barney. Recreated a model of a suburban home.
Show description: “We invite you to our home: the furniture here is meant to be used, books are meant to be read, and chairs are meant to be sat on. Guests are welcome to a timeless theatric, a show of domestic rituals and traditional ceremonies recontextualized through pastiche. Cupboards and shelves and sculptures and paintings overlap in a bricolage of intricate shelter, an homage to the home and family, and the coping mechanisms that serve from childhood to adulthood. Imagine the inhabitants; experience the space of a dwelling in their absence: the divot of a well-worn seat, wrinkled hands working to crochet flowers into a quilt, the scratch of plastic bristles against canvas. This is our home, for you. Please enjoy the show.”
